General InformationThe Suicide FAQ is an attempt to raise awareness about suicide, so that we can recognize and help other people in crisis, find how to seek help, or make better choices ourselves. The Christian Bible documents seven completed suicides, but doesn't appear to condemn these individuals. See the link above for a short article describing these suicides. Suicide SurvivorsSuicide survivors are family members and others who survive following the death of their loved one by suicide. Suicide survivors include spouses, significant others, parents, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, lovers, friends, co-workers, classmates, etc. A conservative estimate suggests there are six suicide survivors for every completed suicide. If there are approximately 31,000 suicides per year, that makes 186,000 new survivors every year. |
